Instrumental Audition Guidelines

All-County Scoring

Each woodwind, brass, string, and percussion student who auditions at our January audition festivals earns a score based on a 100-point system, similar to the All- State audition sheet. At the County level we then add the following points to the level of solo played:

If the student plays solo level 1 then 3 points are added
2 then 6 points are added
3 then 10 points are added
4 then 13 points are added
5 then 17 points are added
6 then 20 points are added

Limits on Solo Levels

All string, brass, woodwind, and percussion are limited as follows at January audition:

Grade in School Music Levels
Elementary 4-6 1-4
Junior High 7-9 1-5
Senior High 10-12 1-6

A student may play for a solo evaluation at any music level, but will be considered for All-County ONLY if the above guidelines are followed. If your student is auditioning for placement in an All-County group please be sure you thoroughly understand the information above.

Seating Auditions

After selection to an All-County group, each student will receive the concert music which is to be prepared before the first rehearsal. At the first rehearsal, sectionals and/or auditions may be held.
